Hours of the Fair

Wednesday through Sunday—10 am to 11 pm
Friday—Open at 9 am for People with Disabilities
Exhibit buildings 10 am—10 pm, Sunday until 9 pm

Children (5 and under)—Free
Active Military (show ID)—Free

As a reminder, pets are not allowed on the Fairgrounds during the Fair.

Scholar Students’ Day—Wednesday, August 8, 10 am—5 pm
     Honor Roll Students (by invitation by Superintendent of Schools)—Free

Kid's Day—Thursday, August 9, 10 am—5 pm
     Children 12 & under—Free

"Fair Bucks"Use this coupon to get $2 off general admission on tickets purchased on Thursday, August 9 only. Cannot be used with any other offer.

People with Disabilities Day—Friday, August 10, 9am - 5 pm
     Disabled Patrons and a guest—Free
     Ag Mechanics Auction Buyers, 4 pm - 6 pm—Free

Salute to Our Armed Services Day—Saturday, August 11
     All active and retired military (show ID)—Free

Community Involvement Day—Sunday, August 12
     Bring three cans of food to the Fair on Sunday and receive $3 off an adult admission ticket.
     All food will be donated to the Food Bank of Nevada County.
     Guests attending Fair worship service (9 -10am)—$6
     Junior Livestock Auction Buyers, 7am -10am—Free

Arena Events

All Arena Events: Gates open one hour before show.
Wednesday, August 8 – 6pm: The Battle of the Bands (presented by The Center for the Arts)
Tickets: $5 per person. For Battle of the Bands tickets, click here for arena events.  For bands interested in participating, visit The Center’s website (http://thecenterforthearts.org/) for official entry forms and official contest rules.

Thursday, August 9 – 7pm: Rodeo
Regular Price: Adults $12; Children (12 and under) $8

Friday, August 10 – 7pm: Donny Martin Memorial Bull Riding Event

Please note that admission to the Fair is not included with an arena event purchase.

Services Available During the Fair

  • ATM—An automatic teller machine is located near Gate 1 adjacent to Main Street Center. There is also an ATM available in the center of the Carnival.
  • Guest Services—(Lost Children, Information, Wheelchairs, Strollers, and Lost & Found). The Fair’s Guest Services is located at the Gate 1. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Explorer Scouts provide lost children service at Guest Services. The rental of wheelchairs and strollers is available on a first come, first serve basis. Lost friends and family should also plan to meet each other at Guest Services.
  • First Aid—Professional medical personnel are on the grounds during operating hours of the Fair. The First Aid station is located in the Horse Office.
  • Security—There is 24-hour security on the grounds during the Fair. Employees wearing red shirts are equipped with radios and can contact the head of security or First Aid immediately.
  • Shuttle Service—There is free parking at Nevada Union High School (39.24011, -121.0570) [map]. A free shuttle bus runs every half-hour from Nevada Union High School to the Fairgrounds. Shuttle service begins at 8:30 am. The last bus leaves the Fairgrounds at 11:30 pm.
  • Take the Gold Country Stage to the Fair and save on parking.
  • Fair Programs—Programs listing all Fair events and maps are available at the gates while supply lasts.
