SPECIAL CONTESTS - 2012 NEVADA COUNTY FAIR:

Information about special contests held at the 2012 Nevada County Fair. Many contests do not require an entry form; however, if a contest does require an entry form, it will be specified next to the contest name. If required, simply download the entry form and bring it into the Fair Office or mail the form, along with the fees, to the Fair Office.

SPECIAL CONTESTS:

  Idol Competition
Wednesday, August 8 [entry form]
Do you love to sing? Sign up for the Fair's Idol Competition. Entry forms are available here. Simply fill out the form, print it out, and return it to the Nevada County Fairgrounds Office. Ages 16 and older. Entry forms and pre-registration required.

Lego Building Contest: Saturday, August 11 (4 - 5pm) [contest rules]
Bring your Legos and construct something during the contest.  No entry forms or fees required. Show up 1/2 hour before the event at the Special Events Tent and get ready to play.

Cell Phone Photo Contest: Saturday, August 11 (5 - 6pm) [contest rules]
Have fun while taking photos of the Fair with your cell phone!

Adult Food Contests: Daily at 6:30pm
Make Turkey Trot Pies, Wild Things Cupcakes, Sundowner Salsa, Land Rover Chocolate, or Untamed Garlic. Pre-registration required. More information in the online Competition Handbook. For additional details, including prize information, click here.

Kids Food Contests: Daily from 3 - 4pm
Make Cheetah Chip Cookies, Jungle Bars, Madagascar Chocolate Cupcakes, Monkey Bread or Banana Split Dessert. Pre-registration required. (See details for Kids Special Food Contests in the online Competition Handbook.)

"Minute to Win It"
Wednesday (4-5 pm) and Friday (6 - 6:30 pm)
Based on the popular TV show, come try to beat the clock. No entry forms or fees required. Show up 1/2 hour before the event at the Special Events Tent and get ready to play.

Soda Straw Rocket
Wednesday (1-3 pm)
Create a soda straw rocket with supplies provided and watch it fly. No entry forms or fees required. Show up 1/2 hour before the event at the Special Events Tent and get ready to play.

Locks of Love
Saturday (noon-3 pm)
Donate your hair to help provide a hairpiece to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Stylists will be available to assist with the hair donation process, as well as to cut and style your hair for free. Held at the Special Events Tent, and no entry forms or fees required.

Diaper Derby
Sunday (5-6:30 pm)
Find out how fast your baby can crawl. There are two categories: 6-9 months and 10-12 months. This contest is limited to the first 20 contestants in each age category.  No entry forms or fees required. Show up 1/2 hour before the event at the Special Events Tent.

Scrapbook Layout
Thursday (5-6:30 pm)
Create a layout with supplies provided. No entry forms or fees required. Show up 1/2 hour before the event at the Special Events Tent and get ready to create.
