November 21, 2008 -- Free Childcare Provided At Country Christmas Faire
Youth community organizations provide services to Faire-goers. The Northern Mines Girl Scouts will offer free babysitting services at this year's Country Christmas Faire, held November 28 - 30 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. This benefit is provided by this youth service organization so that parents can drop off their children while they enjoy holiday shopping. Free babysitting will be provided in the Senior Center at the Fairgrounds; hours for babysitting are the same as the Faire -- Friday and Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm; and Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm...[more]

October 7, 2008 -- Nevada County Fair Schedules Livestock Meeting and Mandatory Tagging Dates
Nevada County Fair officials have scheduled a livestock meeting on Thursday, November 13th to review the 2008 Fair’s livestock program and plan for the 2009 Fair. Future Farmers of America advisors, 4-H leaders, Grange leaders, exhibitors and others interested in the Nevada County Fair livestock programs are invited to participate. Awards for the 22nd annual Draft Horse Classic, held September 18 – 21 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, have been announced. Hank Junkins from Prairie Farm, Wisconsin, judged the draft horse competitions and halter show. September 5, 2008 -- Enter Your Exhibits In The Harvest Fair At The Draft Horse Classic
Just for entering, exhibitors will receive free tickets to a Draft Horse Classic performance. Entries are now being accepted for the Harvest Fair at the Draft Horse Classic, September 18 – 21, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. More than 10,500 community exhibit entries, almost a half million dollar raised for Nevada County youth, and support of community make the Nevada County Fair a success. August 13, 2008 -- Nevada County Fair Exhibits To Be Picked Up By Friday
If you entered an exhibit in the Nevada County Fair, please remember to pick it up no later than Friday, August 15. As stated in the competition handbook, the absolute deadline for picking up exhibits is Friday, August 15. All exhibits are currently being moved to the Main Street Center at Gate 1 where they can be picked up. While the Fair appreciates that all of the exhibits entered in the Fair are important to the exhibitors, the Fair does not have storage room available to safely house the exhibits beyond Friday. August 10, 2008 -- Youth Auctions a Success at Nevada County Fair
Junior Livestock Auction, Ag Mechanics Auction Raise More Than $485,000. More than 240 animals were auctioned at this year’s Junior Livestock Auction on Sunday at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, raising more than $440,000 for the youth of Nevada County. Funds raised from the auction go directly to these students and many use the money for college education or vocational training. Tony Sauer and Sam Dardick have been named the Nevada County Fair’s 2008 Blue Ribbon Award recipients. The award was created by the Fair’s industry association, the Western Fairs Association (WFA), to recognize dedicated individuals who support their local Fair. August 01, 2008 -- Entertaining and Informative Horse Demonstrations Scheduled at Nevada County Fair
Demonstrations showcasing everything from handling baby foals to riding a young horse for its first time, and from miniatures to draft horses, are scheduled at the 2008 Nevada County Fair, August 6 – 10. Donation to Benefit the Construction of New Multi-Purpose Pavilion. Tickets for the Nevada County Fair are on sale now. Purchase your admission and entertainment tickets before the Fair begins and receive a discount.
