Press Release, May 13, 2013 --Nevada County Fair Requires Mandatory Registration of Goat, Sheep and Swine Market Animals for 2013 Fair
For goats, sheep and swine being raised as market animals for the 2013 Nevada County Fair, the Fair's mandatory registration deadline has been set for Friday, June 7th at 4:00 pm. Junior goat, lamb and hog exhibitors may register their market animals at the Fair's Administration Office, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, beginning May 20th. Public Service Announcement, May 8, 2013 --Nevada County Fair Job Fair
The Nevada County Fairgrounds will host a job fair to fulfill its hiring needs for this year’s Fair season on Thursday, May 16, from 2 – 6 pm in the Main Street Center at the Fairgrounds. If you are interested in working at the Fairgrounds during the 2013 Fair season, plan to attend this event. Fair staff will be accepting applications from 2 – 6 pm for all departments, as well as conducting interviews on site. Some of the jobs available include gate cashiers, ticket monitors, “red shirt” patrols, exhibit crew, exhibit entry clerk, clean-up crew, and parking crew.

Public Service Announcement, May 6, 2013 --A Huge Success: Rotary At Work Day At The Nevada County Fairgrounds
More than 180 volunteers spend a day "beautifying" the Nevada County Fairgrounds. On Saturday, Nevada County's Rotary Clubs – Grass Valley Rotary, Nevada City Rotary, Nevada City 49er Breakfast Rotary, Penn Valley Rotary, and South Nevada County Rotary – joined together for the second year for the Rotary at Work Day at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Local contractors and volunteers from Bear River FFA, NU FFA, Sierra College Volunteer Club, Interact Club from Lyman Gilmore and Seven Hills, and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, also participated in the event, which amounted to more than 180 individuals volunteering their time and efforts to perform much-needed repairs and maintenance at the Nevada County Fairgrounds...[more]

Rotary At Work Day At The Nevada County Fairgrounds

More than 180 volunteers participated in the Rotary at Work Day at the Nevada County Fairgrounds on Saturday. Organized by Nevada County's Rotary Clubs, volunteers spent the day fixing up and sprucing up the community's Fairgrounds.

Public Service Announcement, February 12, 2013 --Nevada County Fair Requires Mandatory Registration of Market Animals for 2013 Fair
The Nevada County Fair's mandatory registration deadline for all market beef is 4:00 pm, Friday, April 5th. The mandatory registration deadline of all other large market animals is 4:00 pm, Friday, June 7th. Junior beef exhibitors may register their market animals at the Fair's Administration Office, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, beginning March 18th. The absolute deadline for market beef registration is 4:00 pm, Friday, April 5th. Goat, lamb and hog exhibitors may register their market animals beginning May 20th. The absolute deadline for market goat, sheep and swine registration is 4:00 pm, Friday, June 7th. All FFA, 4-H, Grange and Independent exhibitors are required to register their market animals for the Fair on the dates specified above. Along with the completed entry form and entry fees the exhibitor must also present a photograph of themselves with their market animal and a Bill of Sale to Fair officials; the exhibitor should request this Bill of Sale from the person who sold them their market animal, or if an exhibitor bred their own animal, they must present a letter so stating. Market Beef exhibitors must also complete a transportation slip. Public Service Announcement, February 12, 2013 --Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation To Host Cioppino Feed
Join the Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation at its third annual Cioppino Feed on Saturday, March 2 at 6 pm at Ponderosa Hall at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. For the event, the chefs will create and serve Arnie Romanello’s special 100-year-old recipe for all to enjoy. Dinner includes antipasto, all-you-can-eat Cioppino, salad and garlic bread. This year, a ravioli dish will be available for those who do not like Cioppino, but want to attend the event. A no-host bar will also be available, and there will be a silent dessert auction and a live auction. Tickets are $35 per person. If you’d like to purchase a table for 8, it is $300 and includes a bottle of wine. Tickets are available by visiting the Nevada County Fairgrounds, calling the Fair Office at (530) 273-6217, or downloading an order form. Winner of Fair Artwork Design Contest Announced
Congratulations to Brittany Zweigle of Grass Valley for submitting the winning artwork for the 2013 Fair artwork design contest. Brittany's design does an excellent job of representing the Nevada County Fair and this year's Fair theme of "Under the Big Top." Brittany's design was chosen from 19 entries submitted by community members. Her artwork will be used on various Fair promotional pieces, including print ads, buttons, banners, posters, flyers, and handbooks.

Press Release, December 3, 2012 --Country Christmas Faire Results
Gingerbread House Competition Results and Canned Food Drive Results. A successful canned food drive, more than 100 vendors, and 55 gingerbread houses built made the 28th Annual Country Christmas Faire at the Nevada County Fairgrounds a success. The 10th Annual Gingerbread House Competition was once again a crowd favorite, with 55 entries received. Of those entries, the Best of Show winner was Wanda Dunn of Penn Valley, and the People’s Choice Award went to Kathy Kinney of Penn Valley...[more]
